In August of 2011 I adopted a dog. Or what I thought was a dog. Turns out this “dog” is part devil, part cat, part gazelle, part mouse, and, yes, part lion. (See picture below… she looks innocent enough….)

Since that rainy afternoon when I drove home with what I hoped to be my new best friend, I have gone through countless emotions and training methods. I have read books and magazine articles on dogs, and a ridiculous amount of websites and on-line forums. I have learned more than I ever thought possible about loose leash walking and separation anxiety, and at the same time I feel completely clueless.

The Lion Dog was created to start a conversation of which I feel I am already very much a part, and to  attempt to discuss the questions and realities regarding the relationship 78.2 million other Americans experience each day: man and dog (in this case woman and dog).
